The Pentagon announced that the State Department has given the nod for a potential deal to repair and re-certify Patriot missiles and support Kuwait at an estimated cost of about $150 million.
A report published by army-technology.com stated, “Under the agreement, the United States will provide Kuwait with missile repairs and testing, repair and return of classified and unclassified missile components and ground support equipment components, supply tools to improve the turnaround time for repair and recertification efforts, and air transportation services for missile processing; technical and logistical support from the US government,” reports Al-Rai daily.
The report noted, “This deal would support the foreign policy and national security objectives of the United States by helping to improve the infrastructure of a key non-NATO ally (Kuwait), which has been an important force for political stability and economic progress in the Middle East.”
