Wednesday, the United States of America, and State of Kuwait held its fifth session of the ministerial meeting of the strategic dialogue in Washington, where the Kuwaiti side was chaired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Dr. Ahmed Al-Nasser, while the American side was chaired by the Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.
At the beginning of the meeting, Dr Al-Nasser conveyed the greetings of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Mishaal Al-Ahmad, the Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled, and the government and people of Kuwait to the friendly United States of America, its leadership, government and people, reports Al-Rai daily.
He praised the strength and durability of the historical friendship relations between the two countries, stressing the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation and mutual coordination to achieve common interests, with the importance of developing these relations and raising them to broader levels to achieve the common interest of the two friendly countries and peoples.
He recalled the historical moments in the close bilateral relations between the State of Kuwait and the United States of America over 61 years of continuous prosperity and progress in various fields and 31 years since the operations of the international coalition led by the United States of America to liberate the State of Kuwait from the brutal Iraqi invasion, pointing out in this regard the strategic partnership between the two countries in the area of development and advancement in various fields of bilateral cooperation.
Sheikh Dr Al-Nasser also commended the strength of the existing close cooperation between the two friendly countries in various international forums, expressing his aspiration to continue coordinating this cooperation at all levels.
For his part, the US Secretary of State expressed his country’s pride in the course of the close friendship relations and the existing strategic partnership with the State of Kuwait in all fields, praising its achievement at high levels, hoping to raise it to broader horizons and consolidating its foundations at all levels.
He explained that in light of the many great changes that the world is witnessing, the comprehensive strategic partnership relations between the United States of America and the State of Kuwait are getting stronger and stronger.
On the other hand, the US Secretary of State praised the level of permanent communication and cooperation between the two friendly countries on the international scene, expressing his praise for the wisdom of the State of Kuwait, the balance of its foreign policy, and the efforts it is making in consolidating the pillars of maintaining peace and security in the region.
The US Secretary of State stressed that there is a leading role for the State of Kuwait in the Gulf Cooperation Council and the Arab League.
During a press conference with Sheikh Dr. Ahmed Al-Nasser, Blinken said, “I discussed with the Kuwaiti Foreign Minister the Iran nuclear negotiations.”
“During my discussions with him, I stressed the importance of preventing Iran from developing a nuclear weapon,” he added.
“We value the American efforts to maintain security and peace in the region,” Foreign Minister Sheikh Ahmed Al-Nasser said, stressing that “we are cooperating with the United States in confronting terrorism.”
During the dialogue between the foreign ministers of the two friendly countries, they discussed the latest developments on the regional and international arenas, and exchanged views on the latest developments in the region and topics and issues of common interest.
The heads of the working groups and special teams also held their meetings within the framework of the work of the fifth round of the (Kuwaiti-US) strategic dialogue, which is (the Educational, Cultural and Academic Cooperation Working Group), (Defense Cooperation Working Group), (Security Cooperation and Cyber Security Working Group) and (Cooperation Working Group) Politics, Human Rights and Development), (Working Group on Economic, Commercial, Investment and Climate Change Cooperation) and (Working Group on Consular and Customs Cooperation), in which 22 Kuwaiti parties participated.
The work of the fifth round of the strategic dialogue between the State of Kuwait and the United States of America culminated in the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on the Forum on Reducing Biological Threats in the Gulf Region.
A joint statement was also issued following the fifth round of tslks, which includes regional and international cooperation, defense partnership, security cooperation, human rights, commercial investment, climate, consular affairs, cultural and educational relations.
It is worth noting that the fifth strategic dialogue session, which was held Wednesday, comes as a continuation of the consultative files related to the fruitful and successful results of the solid partnership between the two friendly countries and opening new horizons for joint cooperation in various sectors, reflecting the desire of the leaderships of the two countries to enhance the level of strategic partnership and launch it towards broader horizons.
