The Kuwait University has asked the Kuwait Municipality to approve the opening of its own model schools in Sabah Al-Salem University City.
In a letter addressed to the municipality, a copy of which has been obtained by a local Arabic daily, the university disclosed the near completion of the implementation of one of the main facilities in Sabah Al-Salem University City and the start of preparation for its operation, which is the model school buildings, which will receive students in all stages of basic education.
The sources said the main objective of including this component on the campus of Sabah Al-Salem University City is to achieve an attractive and stimulating study environment, and to implement more effective models and new ideas that keep pace with developments in the fields of teaching at the educational levels, in addition to benefiting from the expertise of the College of Education at the university through its participation in developing all curricula, and rehabilitation of college students in practical training during the undergraduate studies.
The sources added that in preparation for the development of a strategy for operating and managing the model schools at the university, the university administration has approved the university’s supervision of the operation and management of these schools as private schools for teaching the American bilingual system affiliated with Kuwait University, and teaching the special curricula under the supervision of the Special Education Department of the Ministry of Education, with participation from the University’s College of Education in curriculum development and management.
The sources explained that the model schools occupy an area of about 54,000 square meters, and include all stages of basic education from kindergarten to the twelfth grade in addition to the nursery.
The sources said it coordinated with officials of the Special Education Department of the Ministry of Education, and it was agreed in principle that the university will manage their operation as schools.
This will be done particularly after taking the necessary measures to obtain the required licenses and approvals from the concerned authorities in the country.
