The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, Lieutenant General Anwar Al-Barjas, announced the opening of the 36th Unified Gulf Traffic Week under the slogan ‘Your Life is a Trust’, coinciding with the GCC countries which kicked off yesterday morning at the Al-Shaheed Park, in the presence of ambassadors of the unified Gulf Cooperation Council countries, assistant undersecretaries in the Ministry of Interior, security leaders in the General Traffic Department.

Speaking on the occasion, Al-Barjas conveyed the greetings of the First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior and Acting Minister of Defense Sheikh Talal Al-Khaled at the Traffic Week activities, wishing success to all, reports Al-Anba daily.

For his part, Brigadier General Ibrahim Saud Al-Jalal, Chairman of the Unified Gulf Traffic Week Activities Committee, confirmed that the Traffic Week includes many diverse and educational programs to ensure the safety of road users, indicating that spreading traffic awareness will have a significant impact on reducing the rate of traffic accidents and saving people’s lives.

Brigadier General Al-Jalal indicated that the General Secretariat’s choice of the slogan for the Traffic Week, “Your life is a trust”, is diverse in form and content, and therefore we intensify all our efforts in order to deliver a complete message through all the different media, given their great role in delivering information and concepts to all; while at the same time praising the great role played by the public and private sectors in supporting the events to make the Gulf Traffic Week a success.

The opening ceremony included the presentation of statistics, which included the number of traffic accidents in 2022, amounting to 67 thousand and 770 accidents, and the number of deaths 403 cases as a result of these accidents, as the death rate in Kuwait per 100 thousand people. The statistics also included the number of vehicles registered in the year of the same year which is 2,422,223.

The statistic touched on the seizures of the Technical Inspection Department, which included a violation of manufacturing and selling car exhausts that cause sounds, with the participation of the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Electricity, the Kuwait Municipality, the Public Authority for Industry, the Public Authority for Manpower, the Public Authority for Food and Nutrition, the General Administration of Residence Investigation and the Department of Counterfeiting and Counterfeiting Crimes.
