The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, the College of Architecture at Kuwait University, the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development and the Arab Office for Engineering Consultations concluded the first architectural design competition for a refugee shelter in Bangladesh for young architects students in Kuwait at a ceremony to honor the winning students at the United Nations House in Mishref.
More than 20 male and female students from inside and outside Kuwait University participated in the competition with innovative architectural designs that take into account the terms of the competition in terms of innovation and providing economic and sustainable architectural solutions, reports Al-Rai daily.
The student Dima Al-Otaibi from Kuwait University and the two graduates Hessa Muhammad and Reham Alwan were announced as winners.
UNHCR representative, Nisreen Rabian, expressed her happiness at the conclusion of the initiative and the announcement of the winning students, expressing her pride in the level of projects that were presented and the deep human awareness of the students and the extent of their knowledge of asylum issues around the world.
For his part, Acting Director General of the Kuwait Fund for Development, Walid Al-Bahr, stated that the Fund is very keen to support the innovation of Kuwaiti youth and educate them on global humanitarian issues.
