UN Secretary-General Representative Tarek Al-Sheikh on Wednesday affirmed the State of Kuwait’s pioneering role in building skilled youth and aiding them in shaping the future. Al-Sheikh, in a statement marking World Youth Skills Day, lauded the Kuwait youth for setting an example with their crucial response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak and stemming its spread.

The juniors in Kuwait account for the majority of the population and this fact asserts their role for developing the society, he added, noting the need to help this segment get employed amid the difficult conditions caused by the pandemic. The international community marks today the World Youth Skills Day amid very hard conditions due to spread of the coronavirus which has prompted states to shut schools, colleges and other institutions. Lockdowns and containment measures have negatively affected the education of 70 percent of the youngsters worldwide. Moreover, one out of six juniors has become unemployed due to the pandemic.
