UN Secretary-General Representative Resident Coordinator in Kuwait, Dr. Tariq Al-Sheikh praised Kuwait saying that the UN appreciates its commitment to regional and global peace, human dignity, global partnership, and international solidarity, and human happiness.

In a press release on the occasion of the International Day of Happiness, Al-Sheikh added that Kuwait will remain a source of pride, happiness, and appreciation for the UN, especially for achieving the happiness of all citizens, residents, and visitors to the country in all circumstances.

He explained that Kuwait worked tirelessly during the COVID-19 crisis to provide security and safety, provide decent livelihoods and taking proactive measures, pointing to what was stated in the VNR report for the year 2019 that “empowering people and ensuring inclusiveness and equality” in which it committed Kuwait aims to achieve a resilient society free from inequalities and discrimination” He said, “We in the United Nations look forward to the day when we formalize our cooperation annually to cooperate with the people and residents of the State of Kuwait and its government to help achieve their aspirations for health, prosperity and happiness. With equal opportunities for rights in achieving economic, social and environmental sustainability.”

The world celebrates the International Day of Happiness as it is vital of happiness in people’s lives, and it was adopted by the UN’s General Assembly on June 28, 2012, and in 2015 the UN launched the 17 sustainable development goals, realizing the importance of happiness and well-being as global goals and aspirations in the lives of people all over the world. he added.

The World Happiness Report is a comprehensive survey of the state of global happiness that ranks 156 countries by how happy their citizens are as well as cities into how social, urban, and natural environments combine to influence our happiness.
