The United Arab Emirates announced Saturday that applications for tourist visas will be re-opened to vaccinated travelers from all countries as of Monday, August 30.

The announcement was made by the UAE Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICA) and the National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority (NCEMA) in a joint statement. The statement pointed out that applicants have to get two shots of one of the WHO-approved COVID-19 vaccines. It clarified that the move comes as a part of the country’s strategy to create a balance between public health and the activities of vital sectors, and in support of the national efforts to achieve sustainable recovery and economic growth.

It noted that the decision applies to citizens of all countries, including those arriving from the previously banned countries. Arriving passengers with tourist visas must take mandatory rapid PCR test at the airport. The previous rules for unvaccinated, including exempted categories, remain in place, it added.
