The Ministry of the Interior has requested the Ministry of Education to repurpose two disused schools into detention centers for expatriates found in violation of residency regulations.

Confidential sources within the security sector disclosed to Al-Rai newspaper that expatriates aiding residency violators would face deportation as a consequence.

These sources further revealed that the chosen sites, located in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh and Khaitan, are anticipated to be transferred from the Ministry of Education to the Ministry of Interior shortly.

Following this transfer, the Ministry of Interior will oversee their renovation and modification into detention facilities for housing the excess numbers of violators. This move aims to alleviate overcrowding in police stations and deportation facilities. This approach aligns with the ongoing security campaigns and their projected escalation in the upcoming phase.

According to insiders, directives from the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Talal Al-Khaled, along with Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, Lt. Gen. Anwar Al-Barjas, emphasizes the creation of a comprehensive strategy.

This strategy involves analyzing violation statistics in cooperation with relevant departments within the Ministry of Interior. The objective is to encircle individuals infringing upon residency laws, which currently accounts for approximately 150,000 individuals. Security forces will reinforce their presence in regions where violators commonly gather, such as Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, Khaitan, Farwaniya, Mahboula, Amghara, Al-Mazraa’, and other areas. These operations will lead to apprehensions and subsequent deportations.

The sources underscore the unwavering commitment of the Ministry of Interior to pursue and regulate violators. They mention the continuous deployment of personnel and patrols, along with the implementation of round-the-clock security operations to curb residency violations.

The sources issue a caution against expatriates who shield violators, clarifying that such actions would lead to the same penalty of deportation. Expatriates collaborating with citizens or companies engaged in unlawful activities will be held accountable for aiding and abetting violators, inviting legal repercussions.

Additionally, the sources reveal ongoing coordination between the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The purpose of this collaboration is to establish a streamlined process with the embassies of countries housing significant numbers of violators.

This aims to expedite deportation procedures, especially considering the need for swift issuance of travel documents for certain workers, eliminating the necessity of waiting for prolonged periods, be it weeks or months.
