Kuwait Armed Forces said on Tuesday that two of the latest and most advanced generation of Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jets have arrived at Ali Al-Salem Air Force Base in Kuwait.

A ceremony marking the event was held under the patronage and presence of Chief-of-Staff Lt- Gen Khaled Saleh Al-Sabah, Defence Ministry Acting Undersecretary Sheikh Fahad Jaber Al-Ali Al-Sabah and Italy’s Ambassador to Kuwait Carlo Balducci, according to a Kuwait military statement.

Representatives of the Italian aerospace company Leonardo, who jointly manufactures the aircraft, also attended. The initial two jets are the multi-role Typhoon Tranche 3 variants, characterised by their electronic warfare and high-speed response capabilities as well as an advanced missile armament.

They form part of a deal including 28 Eurofighter Typhoon jets Kuwait had previously ordered. Before making their journey to Kuwait, the two aircrafts were received on December 7 at the Casilli base in Turin, Italy, in the presence of Kuwait’s Ambassador to Italy Sheikh Azzam Al- Sabah. – KUNA
