A Filipino and Ceylonian housemaids died from suffocation after inhaling poisonous smoke from burning charcoal in their sponsor’s home in Sabah Al-Nasser according to initial reports, Al Rai daily reported.

The sponsor of the two maids stated that he knocked on the door of the room more than once, and when there was no answer, he was forced to smash open the door.

The sponsor added that he found the two maids dead, and informed the security authorities. A preliminary testimony from the forensic evidence indicated that the cause of death was choking on fumes from burning charcoal in a closed room and a case was registered.
