The Ambassador of Turkey to Kuwait H E Aisha Koytak said her country attaches great importance to consultations, close dialogue and cooperation with Kuwait on regional issues, as Kuwait is one of the important factors in the stability of the region, and along with Turkey within this framework contributes to peace and stability.

Koytak described her country’s relations with Kuwait as exemplary, stressing the existence of wide cooperation potentials awaiting the two countries to deepen relations in all fields, local Arabic daily reported.

She said in an interview with Anatolia that Turkey and Kuwait have similar approaches in many regional and international issues, where developments in our region and the world require more frequent and regular dialogues.

She pointed out that “the high-level mutual visits are important in terms of achieving the will towards developing relations,” noting the continuous communication between the two countries’ foreign ministers.

In this context, Ambassador Koytak stressed that “developing cooperation with Kuwait in the health and academic fields is one of the goals that I attach special importance to. I am also interested in cooperation in the military and defense industry because we see the security and stability of Kuwait as equivalent to the security and stability of Turkey.”

On trade relations between the two countries, she said, “I can say that we have recently made great progress in our economic and trade relations with Kuwait. Although it does not reflect the real potential so far, our steps to facilitate tourism have also contributed significant to trade and investment relations.” ”

“Bilateral trade volume increased by 31.5% in 2021 compared to the previous year and amounted to $801 million,” she added.

She pointed out that “the number of companies operating with Kuwaiti capital in Turkey has risen to 382. Direct investments from Kuwait in our country has reached $2 billion. The largest financial institutions and family businesses in Kuwait have investments in Turkey financing in food sectors and beverages, and from real estate to building materials.”

Regarding the Turkish companies in Kuwait, Koytak said, “The number of Turkish companies operating in Kuwait is about 50.” She pointed out that “among the important projects that have been started recently, the second Kuwait International Airport building and the car parking building (the largest tender awarded by contracting companies) and the most comprehensive tender awarded by Kuwait outside the oil sector are the Al-Mutla’a city infrastructure project and the fourth Kuwait International Airport building, the KOC boat port project, the highway and intersection project in Al-Mutla’a City, and the Infectious Diseases Hospital to name a few.”

On the occasion of the end of her duties in Kuwait, Ambassador Koytak said, “During my tenure of more than four and a half years, I have sought to serve the Turkish community in Kuwait in the best possible way and made an effort to strengthen Turkish-Kuwaiti relations in all fields.”

“We attach special importance to cooperation in the field of defense industries. I think there will be good developments soon,” she said.
