The Director General of the Municipality, Eng. Ahmed Al-Manfouhi said the municipality supports the transfer of private schools from private housing areas, pointing out that some schools have moved from these areas, and there are two schools that obtained a court ruling to remain in their locations.

Al-Manfouhi revealed during the municipal council session yesterday, which was held under the chairmanship of Abdullah Al-Mahri, that the executive body will refer the Abdullah Al-Ahmad Street development project to the council next week, reports a local Arabic daily.

The Council approved the request of the Public Authority for Youth to specify part of the use of the Mubarak Al-Abdullah Youth Center for the Technology Business City project, with an area not exceeding 8,000 square meters.

The head of the Municipal Council, Abdullah Al-Mahri, opened the session by reviewing the response received from the executive body to a question about private schools in Salwa, Rumaithiya and Salmiya.

The Director of the Audit Department at the Municipality of Hawalli Governorate, Eng. Mubarak Al-Ajmi said, “We have contacted the Ministry of Education about the mechanism for renewing licenses for private schools in residential areas, but the Ministry did not send a response.
