The Minister of State for Municipal Affairs and the Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology, Rana Al-Faris, has submitted a letter to the Council of Ministers regarding the transfer of the subordination of some lands to the Public Institution for Social Security (PIFSS).

According to a local Arabic daily, the total area of the land required to be transferred to the ownership of the Institution is approximately 915,000 square meters.

The minister’s letter, a copy of which has been obtained by the daily, the sites are the following:

1 – The location of the Fintas Service Recreation Center in the Egaila area, block 5, with an area of 85,500 square meters

2 – The site of the Ministry of Interior currently (Al-Siddiq School), and part of the site designated for the Public Authority for Housing Welfare in Al-Mirqab area, with an area of 104,250 square meters.

3 – The site adjacent to the Avenues Mall in Al Rai area, with an area of 725,000 square meters.

Informed sources stated that the Kuwait Municipality has prepared preliminary plans for the sites which are under study, and held several meetings with the Institution, the Ministry of Finance and the concerned authorities, regarding the possibility of developing these sites.

The municipality believes that to complete the procedures for transferring the subordination of these lands to the Institution requires a decision by the Council of Ministers, provided that coordination will then take place between the Fatwa and Legislation Department and the Ministry of Finance to issue the land ownership documents.
