With the start of the camping season and the temperatures beginning to drop, most citizens and expatriates in Kuwait go to camps, chalets, rest houses and farms for recreation and get away from the routine cycle of work to enjoy and have fun with their families away from homes.

The camps constitute an outlet and a place for everyone to spend fun times, but there are many who prefer the open desert areas (Kashta) to have fun because it is easy to pick any spot and this activity is less expensive, or because it is temporary, fast, and not specific to a specific place, such as permanent camps, as it is possible to move from one place to another and enjoy the springtime atmosphere away from any obligations.

Al-Anba toured the Kashta (open areas where people just move about to enjoy nature) to know the views of Kuwaitis and residents enjoying the beautiful weather in open areas. They said they prefer kashta because they spend several hours in the open under the blue sky and then return home.

Many families expressed their happiness with “Kashta”. They said although they enjoy the open areas they adhere to the cleanliness and ensure that the environment is left clean for others to come and enjoy. They said there is a big difference between pitching a permanent camp and “Kashta” because the latter is free unlike pitching a tent or a camp which is costly.

Muhammad Saud said I tried the “kashta” and the camp, and each of them has advantages and disadvantages. The daily kashta does not exceed 8 hours, and the place is of your choice, whether between the mountains, open desert areas, or close to your home. You are free to choose the place and can change whenever you want and move to another place, and the kashta is not expensive. Today our kashta is in Sabhan and close to our homes, and next to us there are groceries, mobile restaurants and here your children can enjoy riding their bunchies under watchful eyes of parents or guardians.

“I have advice for the brothers who go on daily ‘kashta’ and that is to do everything to keep the place clean and not leave behind the garbage or leftover food in around the place but collect in bags and take it with them in their car to the nearest garbage collection place. As for the permanent camps, Muhammad explained that there is a change in the routine completely.

However, Muhammad Al-Enezi, said, “they were in open area in Sabhan and right under the high-pressure overhead power cables and we do not know if it is harmful to health or it is harmless. It is known Kuwait weather is hot for nine months of the year, and we take advantage of the short period in winter and spring for hiking.”

Al-Enezi added, “I prefer this place and we have been coming here for years and earlier there were many negatives, but this year I saw the change, as I noticed the presence of a large number of agricultural seedlings, and I do not know whether they are from people or from a company, but it gave a beautiful view.

When asked about the difference between the spring camps and the daily kashta, Al-Enezi explained that the difference is that the camps in the past were very simple and inexpensive, and there were no costs from the camp owners, but the camps at the present time have become very expensive so people prefer kashta because it is less expensive and one can move around carefree.
