The social network Tik Tok has finally launched a new feature that allows users to publish content consisting of text only, knowing that the platform’s publications were limited to video clips, in a move that allows it to compete directly with Twitter.
The Chinese company, ByteDance, which owns the platform, stated this new feature allows users to “share their stories, poems, and other written content, which provides content creators with another way to express themselves on the platform,” reports Al-Rai daily.
The TikTok network, known for its short video clips, is seeking to increase the services it provides.
It gradually increased the maximum length of videos that can be published from 15 seconds when the platform was launched in 2017 to ten minutes now, in a move aimed at competing with YouTube, which launched the format of short videos inspired by Tik Tok.
The written content format launched by Tik Tok constitutes an alternative to social networks that specialize in texts, most notably Twitter, whose owner, Elon Musk, changed its name to “X”.
