Diplomatic sources have revealed that relentless efforts by the foreign ministry have succeeded in obtaining the release of three Kuwaitis, detained in Iraq for violating the law on hunting birds.

The three Kuwaitis who had been hunting in Muthanna governorate, were arrested and interrogated by Iraqi intelligence personnel for hunting in an area where hunting is banned. Since 2015, when Qatari hunters were abducted in Iraq while on a hunting trip, the Iraqi authorities have banned all hunting in the southern deserts.
