The organizing committee of the GCC third Games scheduled to be hosted in Kuwait from May 13th to 31st, confirmed on Tuesday the readiness of all stadiums designated to host the competitions, which will witness the participation of more than 1,700 male and female athletes.
Head of the Sports and Stadiums Committee emanating from the (Organizing Committee) Haider Ferman said in a press statement that the ready-made facilities include 12 sites, which are stadiums, halls, and a track. Ferman added that the (Sports Committee) is coordinating with the Olympic committees and the Gulf national federations to nominate the names of neutral referees.
Ferman stated that the (Sports Committee) is responsible for developing all sports programs for all games. In addition to coordinating with the Olympic committees and Gulf federations, they will be receiving the names and registration of participants, conducting the draw ceremonies, setting timetables for competitions and training, allocating stadiums, coordinating with technical committees, and selecting referees.
The tournament will start next Friday with the women’s athletics competitions, while the rest of the games will take place in turn. The games will includes competitions in 16 sports, namely handball, volleyball, basketball, futsal, swimming, athletics, karate, judo, fencing, shooting, tennis, cycling, ice hockey, table tennis, and Padel addition to electronic sports.
For the first time, the tournament will witness the participation of the female component, as the players will participate in seven competitions, including futsal, cycling, athletics, table tennis, basketball (3×3), electronic games, and Padel.
