The director of the Princeshof National Museum of Ceramics in the city of Leeuwarden in the province of Friesland in the northern part of the Netherlands revealed, on Monday, that thieves stole valuable Chinese ceramics from the museum, in what appears to be a well-planned robbery.

There had already been a failed break-in attempt on the first of February, and as a result security measures were tightened, reports Al-Rai daily.

Museum director Chris Kalinen added that despite this, the thieves managed to escape by stealing 4 items, and severely damaging 7 other items during the robbery.

Some of the items that were stolen belonged to the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), and others were more than 1,000 years old. The museum did not disclose any information about the value of the loot. Kalinin said the damage may have been done when the thieves left the museum in a hurry.

“It is clear that the perpetrators had accurate information, and that their attacks were targeted,” he said in an interview with the radio.
