The National Guard’s Financial Affairs and Resources Department announced on Friday that its Economic Services Branch has distributed food baskets to the residents of the lockdown Khaitan region. The National Guard is responsible for securing Khaitan and supervising its lockdown, in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior, based on the decision of the Council of Ministers, as part of the measures to combat the coronavirus.

Commenting on this initiative, Associate for Financial Affairs and Resources Management of the National Guard, Brigadier Riyad Muhammad Tawari said in a statement that “this initiative comes from the directives of the High Command of the National Guard represented by His Highness Sheikh Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah, head of the National Guard, and His Excellency Sheikh Mishaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Deputy Guard the National”.

He added that this initiative also comes “to fulfill the societal and humanitarian role of the National Guard and within its efforts to assist the residents of the lockdown areas and reduce their suffering.”

He pointed out that the National Guard Society has prepared food baskets that contain a variety of basic commodities that cover the necessary needs of the beneficiaries, “especially in the lockdown measures applied in the region.”  Brigadier General Tuari said that the distribution of this aid by the National Guard comes at a time when his men support their national duty to maintain stability and uphold health preventative measures in Khaitan lockdown area as a security precaution to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
