The Ministry of Health is working to keep pace with the repercussions of the Corona pandemic crisis, despite the noticeable decrease in infections and deaths caused by the disease in the country while the European Union continue to re-impose restrictions.

Work has been underway to secure the strategic stock of medicines for some time with the aim of providing the best services and health care to citizens and residents and avoiding any shortage in drugs.

The Al-Qabas daily quoting source said the ministry has obtained initial approvals to buy medicines worth 16 million dinars to treat various diseases including for the benefit of cancer patients at the Hussein Makki Al-Juma Center for Specialized Surgery at an estimated cost of KD 2.3 million in addition to materials used as supplies for dialysis machines in dialysis centers, worth KD 4.6 million, and other treatments used for diabetic and neurological patients at 3.2 million dinars.

The sources indicated the Ministry is in the process of supplying medicines for the treatment of heart diseases, angina pectoris, joint stiffness, and antifungal injections, in addition to injections for the treatment of anemia patients, with a total amount estimated at KD 2.3 million in addition to injectable medicines for the treatment of Crohn’s patients worth KD 1.5 million and other medicines used for patients with high blood pressure and organ transplantation, KD 2.1 million.

On the other hand, the officials pointed out that the ministry obtained initial approvals for the supply, development and modernization of the electronic filing system and devices to manage the central registry of births and deaths, at a cost of KD 755,000 pointing to the importance of modernizing the administration’s devices and their centers in Maidan Hawalli, Farwaniya, Jahra and Fahaheel, which has a huge network of information on births and deaths, as updating makes it easier for the ministry to retrieve data and develop services, especially as it deals with very large numbers of births and deaths annually.

— KD 2.3 million to treat cancer patients at Hussein Makki Al-Juma Center

— KD 4.6 million for the supplies of dialysis machines in dialysis centers

— KD 3.2 million for medicines for diabetics and neurotics

— KD 2.3 million for medicines for heart diseases, angina pectoris and joint stiffness

— KD 1.5 million injection drugs to treat Crohn’s patients

— KD 2.1 million for high blood pressure drugs and organ transplants
