Sources revealed that the Ministry of Social Affairs has reconfigured the Committee for Emiri Pardon Cases, Drug Cases, Juvenile Delinquents, and Residential Homes, headed by the Assistant Undersecretary for Social Welfare Sector Affairs in joint corporation with some relevant government agencies.

The committee is taking care of juveniles in the social care homes in Sulaibikhat and Muwaqqa who are pending conviction for cases of addiction and drug abuse, to find out the extent of their eligibility to be included in the Emiri pardon or not.

According to the sources the committee is also examining the cases enrolled in the rehabilitative treatment program at the central prison and the extent of their entitlement to be included in the amnesty lists, as well as examining the cases of delinquent or vulnerable juveniles who were involved in cases of addiction and abuse by designing a rehabilitative treatment program to reduce this scourge, especially among the category of juveniles.

The sources added, “Once the results of the study of all the cases are completed, a final list of the names of those who deserve amnesty will be prepared in coordination with the Ministry of Interior and the Central Prison Administration, and then the matter will be submitted to the Public Prosecution Office to decide whether they are eligible, in line with the state’s policy.
