Regarding the concerns and ambiguities raised about Kuwait’s stance on the Palestinian issue following the events in Gaza, Foreign Minister Sheikh Salem Al-Sabah reaffirmed Kuwait’s unwavering position, emphasizing that it is the strongest among Gulf and Arab nations.

He stated that this position has remained consistent for over six decades without any deviations. Kuwait’s stance is characterized as clear, firm, and well-established, reports Al-Jarida daily.

The core principle is opposition to normalization with Israel unless an independent Palestinian state is established along the demarcated borders of June 4, 1967, in accordance with international resolutions. This steadfast position is supported by both the current and previous leadership and is considered irreversible.

Addressing the situation in Gaza, the Foreign Minister characterized the conflict initiated by the “Zionist entity” as a form of retaliation and collective punishment rather than a defensive action. He expressed regret over the inability of the United Nations Security Council to intervene effectively in ending the violence in Gaza. Additionally, he strongly rejected any attempts to displace Palestinians from their homeland.

Kuwait’s strategy to address the situation includes three key demands: an immediate cessation of hostilities, the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza, and the establishment of a final solution for the State of Palestine.

Regarding potential economic measures to halt the attacks on Gaza, Al-Sabah emphasized the importance of discussing such actions within the Gulf Cooperation Council and the Arab League. He argued that economic pressures must be coordinated among these entities to have a meaningful impact.

The Foreign Minister underscored the ongoing efforts to garner international support for the Palestinian cause, highlighting the importance of diplomacy and building international momentum. He noted that approximately 120 countries have supported a ceasefire, representing two-thirds of the world.

On the issue of the new US Ambassador to Kuwait, he said, her nomination was accepted by His Highness the Amir earlier, and her arrival has been delayed by Washington, pointing out that if the ambassador arrives in Kuwait, she will present her credentials to the political leadership.

When asked about the delay in the arrival and her accreditation, Al-Sabah confirmed that this matter is currently under consideration by the relevant authorities. If the ambassador arrives in Kuwait, her credentials will be presented to the political leadership.

The Foreign Minister also mentioned that Kuwait has a longstanding law prohibiting cooperation with Israel dating back to 1964. While there is general agreement on this matter, further discussions and deliberations are required to address specific issues.

In response to questions about warning statements issued by some embassies to their citizens in Kuwait, Al-Sabah clarified that each embassy and country is responsible for its citizens and their assessments. Kuwait respects their sovereign decisions and stands ready to provide assistance and support.

Finally, Al-Sabah highlighted the importance of joint Arab statements and the need for consensus in order to preserve Gulf and Arab unity. He stressed that consensual statements require a common formula accepted by all parties, emphasizing the strength of unity over disagreements about specific wording.

The Foreign Minister also expressed a commitment to helping teachers from Gaza, indicating an approach to facilitate their work.
