The Ministry of Electricity and Water revealed that the ministry has obtained the approval of the Ministry of Finance for the supply of 600,000 smart meters (400,000 electricity and 200,000 water meters), as part of the second phase work, Al-Rai daily reported.
The sources said “the ministry was keen to raise the quantity, in response to the recommendations of the Council of Ministers to replace traditional meters with smart meters.
The sources said the ministry representatives held a meeting with officials of the Central Tenders Committee in this regard and tenders for the supply of meters is expected to be floated in two weeks.
