The Tourist Enterprises Company (TEC) has drained the government treasury of about 850 million dinars, 600 million of which was lost in just 12 years (2009-2020), as a result of administrative blunders practices.

The sources told Annahar daily this matter should not go unnoticed, as the company’s policies and practices were harmful to investors as a result of which they lost a lot of money, for example, by insisting to offer the establishment of restaurants along the waterfront in accordance with Law No. 105 of 1980, in violation of the applicable law, Law No. 116 of 2014, regarding partnership between the public and private sectors.

The sources added that the Audit Bureau had earlier warned of the financial and legal consequences for not applying Law No. 116 and emptying it of its content, as the company had offered these sites to be exploited for a period of 3 years, other than what was stated in Article 30 of Law No. 116 of 2014, which states that the term of the contract to manage these projects may exceed 10 years.

The sources indicated that the TEC lost 353 million dinars from 2009 to 2018 as a result of renewing investor contracts without offering them in public auctions.
