An American high school dispensed with a psychology teacher because he asked his students to write an obituary about themselves that would be published after their death, as if it were the last day of their lives.

Jeffrey Kane, 63, said in a post on Facebook that he wanted to apply one of the lessons through an exercise aimed at preparing students for the danger of an armed storming of their school near Orlando, Florida, reports Al-Rai daily.

Kane asked his students to write their “impressions” of this simulation, to think about the reasons behind the recurrence of shootings in the United States, and the solutions that could lead to avoiding them, in addition to writing an obituary of their lives that would be published after their death.

The professor appended the paper with a phrase in which he assured his students that he does not aim at all from this exercise to disturb them.

However, the professor was dismissed from the school, whose administration considered, in a statement published by American media, that the exercise he asked the students to be “inappropriate.”
