Tajik President Emamoli Rakhmon was re-elected to serve for a fifth term to maintain his top post by a landslide win. The Russian news agency, Tass, citing a declaration by the Tajik central electoral commission on Monday, reported that Rakhmon garnered up to 90.92 of the ballots in the polling held on Sunday. Voters’ turnout was estimated at 85.39 percent of the electorate.

Rakhmon, who became president of Tajikistan in 1994, would serve for another seven-year mandate in office.
