The Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) in collaboration with the Ministry of Commerce will soon implement the government decision to impose a surcharge of KD300 on each expatriate hired by private sector firms, if they are found violating the employment ratio of nationals to expatriates, fixed for their category of firms.
Speaking about the new surcharges, the Deputy Director-General of the National Labor Sector at PAM, Sultan al-Shaalani, said that the surcharge of KD300 per worker exceeding the ratio was fixed after consultations, as the earlier suggestion of KD500 was felt to be on the higher side.
