The government is looking to establishing a new Friday market in the Jahra Governorate, but it will be designed and managed as a modern market, according to the latest regulation, follow-up and control mechanisms.

Informed sources indicated the Kuwait Municipality is anticipating the opinions of the regulatory authorities, in an effort to establish a different model of the current Friday market, indicating that according to one of the suggestions no sales process will be completed without invoices, in order to ensure the safety of purchase deals to protect consumer rights such the right to return the commodity in the event the customer decides to return it within the period specified by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, in addition to reducing cash purchases by relying on electronic payment devices and all modern technology, whether in sales or display.

The sources pointed out that “the proposals on the table include issuing licenses to the beneficiaries, and that this be done electronically, in addition to organizing auctions through the licensed authorities, and with their participation.

The sources a proposal is on the table to form a government committee including representatives from the Municipality, the ministries of Interior and Commerce, the Fire Brigade and the Public Authority for Manpower, in order to organize work mechanisms and manage this market.
