The Sri Lankan ambassador to Kuwait, Othman Mohamed Gohar denied a video being circulated on social media that those nationals housed in the embassy shelter are fleeing from the homes of their employers and are without food, reported Al Rai daily.

He assured that the people in the shelter are provided with all the necessities. He added that the travel procedures for the Sri Lankan nationals have not yet ended and the embassy is cooperating with many charitable societies to distribute food for his country’s nationals.

He stressed that the claims in the published video are related to Sri Lankan nationals only, and there are procedures that must be taken, and stated that their numbers in the shelter  are between 70 and 100 domestic workers.
