It gives me great pleasure to extend my warmest felicitations and congratulations to His Highness Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Amir of the State of Kuwait, His Highness Sheikh Meshaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al Sabah, Crown Prince of the State of Kuwait, His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Prime Minister of the State of Kuwait, and the people of the State of Kuwait, on the momentous occasion of the 61st anniversary of the National Day of the State of Kuwait.

As part of the continued interactions at the highest level, His Highness the Prime Minister of the State of Kuwait and His Excellency the President of Sri Lanka met a few months ago in New York and reaffirmed their desire to make the relations between the two countries and the cooperation in the international arena even stronger. Both the countries play vital roles in their respective regions and beyond in peace building.

Kuwait is home for over 100,000 Sri Lankans, whose crucial contribution to the domestic sector has been exceptional, while the State of Kuwait’s assistance towards economic development in Sri Lanka has been enormous.

The recent signing of a loan agreement for establishment of a medical faculty at a university in Sri Lanka is yet another milestone in the ever-growing bilateral relations. I have no doubt that the multifaceted bilateral relations and the people to people contact will grow further, despite the challenges due to the pandemic.

H.E. U. L. Mohammed Jauhar
Ambassador of Sri Lanka
