I sincerely congratulate the friendly and brotherly state and people of Kuwait, as well as the Amir of Kuwait His Highness Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and the Crown Prince His Highness Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on the occasions of the 61st National Day and the 31st Liberation Day, and wish the Kuwaiti state and people sustainable development and high prosperity.
Relations between our peoples go back to ancient times. Kuwait was one of the first countries to recognize the independence of Azerbaijan, which regained its independence in 1991. Since then, relations between the two countries have been advancing in all areas. Azerbaijan and Kuwait have signed about 30 agreements regulating bilateral relations, and mutually beneficial cooperation within international organizations that serve the interests of our peoples and states.
The official visit of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan H.E. Ilham Aliyev to the State of Kuwait in 2009 was important in terms of further development of these relations and he was awarded the Order of Mubarak Al-Kabir by the late Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. At the same time, President Ilham Aliyev awarded the Amir with the Heydar Aliyev Order, the highest order of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
It is very gratifying that after the COVID-19 pandemic, direct flights between the capitals of our countries have been restored. I would also like to note that since 2016, simplified visa processing for Kuwaiti citizens have been introduced at Azerbaijani international airports. Also, Kuwaiti citizens have the opportunity to obtain a visa in a short time through the electronic ‘ASAN Visa’ system. All this facilitates the tourist visits of Kuwaiti citizens to Azerbaijan, and in general, the number of tourists from the Gulf countries to Azerbaijan is growing every year.
We once again extend our warmest congratulations and best wishes to the people and state of Kuwait and express our determination to develop our future cooperation.
