The Ministry of Interior and the Public Authority for Manpower plans to establish a ‘platform’ to address the situation of violators of the residence law, whose numbers are estimated to be in tens of thousands.
The sources told a local Arabic daily the agreement was reached during the coordination meeting held Monday by the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Ahmed Al-Nawaf, in the presence of the Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Integrity Affairs Counselor Jamal Al-Jalawi, and senior PAM officials to discuss the file of violators working in the private sector and mechanisms for achieving market quality and reducing the phenomenon of marginal employment.
The sources said “green light has been given to prepare the temporary project (a special platform) to address the conditions of residence violators, working in the private sector only.”
The sources explained that “the target groups will include violators whose residence was not renewed by the employer, or whose employers terminated their projects, and other categories that will be revealed after the completion of the study,” noting that “the platform will receive everyone who deserves to adjust their status in accordance with the decisions and laws in force.”
