National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim called for holding a special session on budgets on Tuesday and Wednesday. In a press statement on Sunday, Al-Ghanim hoped that all government members and MPs would attend the sessions, adding that everyone has the right to express opinions on the topic.

He also called on them to refrain from conflict and to work together for the benefit of Kuwaiti citizens. Meanwhile, Al-Ghanim affirmed that setting a budget plan is not a political matter and should not creat fued between members. He added that if the budgets plan was not processed, it will affect new employment, academic scholarships, house distribution and many other key issues.

According to article 140 of the Kuwaiti Constitution, the fiscal year starts in April of every year, thus the government must prepare a detailed plan on the country’s income and spendings and present it to the assembly for approval, two months before the fiscal year’s end, he explained.
