There are some 200 Kuwait Red Crescent Society’s (KRCS) volunteers partaking in organizing the 2022 National Assembly elections for the 17th legislative term, currently underway, said a media official from the society on Thursday.

Speaking to KUNA, head of the media department at KRCS Khaled Al-Zaid said that the volunteers’ participation reflected their keenness and belief in the democratic process in Kuwait.

The volunteers would assist voters, lend hand in organizing the elections, and also offer logistic and humanitarian support to the elderly, added Al-Zaid.

He went on to say that, the volunteers have been trained to provide services at polling stations throughout the country.

Voting began in Kuwait at 8:00 a.m. local-time Thursday with the process continuing until 8:00 p.m. Some 795,911 eligible voters will cast their ballots in the country’s five constituencies to elect 50 MPs from the 305 hopefuls.
