A security source refuted news circulated yesterday on social media about the launch of a security campaign in Hawalli to penalize those who do not wear masks in their vehicles or while walking on the streets with a KD100 fine and a puncture on their civil id card, Al-Anba daily reported.

The health authorities sent a list of recommendations to the Council of Ministers last week to grant health personnel and the concerned authorities the right to enforce immediate fines against those who do not comply with health requirements, especially wearing masks.

The sources said that the Ministry of Health requested other concerned authorities to regulate compliance with health guidelines and perform their roles as required, in a way that helps contain the spread of the epidemic, noting in this regard the organizing of weddings, parties and other activities with indifference to health warnings, which worries the government that their efforts would be for naught.
