The Department of Non-Governmental Associations in the Development Sector said the Ministry of Social Affairs is currently working on listing the names of non-active non-governmental organizations that have been publicized for years and have not provided real services to society, are not committed to the regulations, controls and requirements regulating work, and do not seek to achieve the goals that have been declared, reports Al-Jarida daily.
According to the sources, the Ministry is serious about applying the law to associations and take necessary measures, which prove that they have not carried out any activities on the ground for long years and that they have not provided the Ministry with the estimated budget, financial and administrative reports for the past years, or bank statements.
The sources explained that such associations are inactive. It blocks the way for requests to establish other associations with the same goals, which results in depriving society of real services that could be provided to several groups and segments.
The sources pointed out that this measure by the ministry comes in line with decisions it recently took against some ineffective charity societies, “as it issued a number of decisions to withdraw its publicity,” revealing that there are more than 20 new charities that are close to the issuance of decisions to cancel licenses for the same reasons mentioned above.
