The Public Authority for Manpower announced the launch of the “smart worker identity” through the Kuwait mobile ID application. According to Al Anbaa newspaper, the said initiative, in line with the directives of the First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior, and Acting Minister of Defense Sheikh Talal Al-Khalid, aims to protect the Kuwaiti family from migrant workers and commercial fraud, and combat the manipulation of labor for purposes other than their work. The report added that by enabling the Kuwaiti family to view the data of the employed labor before allowing them to carry out any work inside the homes, it will help limit the exploitation of labor by residence merchants.

Furthermore, the National Employment Authority in the private sector is urging the activation of the worker’s identity through the app. This will allow families to view the data of the work permit, commercial license, and commercial address of the company with which the worker is registered. The authority is appealing to all families to verify the worker’s identity and profession and to request access to the electronic identity before allowing them to enter the residence and begin work. Families are also encouraged to keep a copy of the data by scanning the QR code for future reference.

In addition, private sector companies are being called upon to place workers in appropriate professions through the Unified Gulf Guide for Occupational Classification and Description, to ensure that workers are not exposed to violations of labor laws and decisions.
