The Ministry of Social Affairs said the licenses for collecting Ramadan donations have been confiscated for violating the rules and regulations.
The sources told Al-Jarida daily that the volunteer teams cannot act independently and that the donations must be collected under the umbrella of one of the well-known charity societies after getting the approval of the Ministry.
The sources indicating that the aforementioned teams violated this rule and the Ministry will take strict legal measures regarding them that may result in withdrawal of the license and the referral to the Public Prosecution.
The sources indicated that the teams that wish to participate in the collection of donations, according to the aforementioned controls, submit an application to the Ministry, along with the project to be collected to ensure its seriousness, pointing out that according to the regulations for organizing volunteer teams, the team is allowed to open a temporary bank account for this purpose.
The sources stated that the inspection teams spotted about 5 funds in mosques in violation of the law on collecting money for public purposes, and a report was made to prove the case and the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs was addressed to take action in this regard, pointing out that the funds collected by these teams have been confiscated.
The sources indicated that there are dozens of “kiosks” collecting worn-out clothes that were monitored during the past week and the ministry worked in cooperation with the Kuwait Municipality, to remove them, pointing out that the most common areas where these “kiosks” are spread are in the Jahra Governorate.
