The day before yesterday, the fish auction held at the Sharq market experienced a significant surge in attendance from both consumers and fish enthusiasts. This was attributed to the availability of big quantities of shrimp baskets, which took center stage at the market and revitalized the auction proceedings. The cost of a 25-kilogram basket of shrimp varied between 50 to 70 dinars, depending on the size of the shrimp.

However, several vendors have shown their dissatisfaction due to the scarcity of fish in the market, leading to high prices for local catch.

Meanwhile, the cost of Kuwaiti zubaidi, priced per kilogram, ranged from 9 to 13 dinars, depending on the size, reports Al-Rai daily.

A vendor complained “mead” fish which is the most favored at this time of the year was notably absent from the market despite a growing demand. This absence was attributed to the significant impact of the hunting ban in Kuwait Bay.

The following are approximate prices per kilo:

Kuwaiti Zubaidi from 9 to 13 dinars, depending on the size
Iranian Zubaidi 9 dinars
Iranian Hammour 4 dinars
Kuwaiti grouper 6 dinars
Kuwaiti shim 7 dinars
Kuwaiti ballool: 9 dinars
Kuwaiti Shaam: 5 dinars
