The Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has taken swift action by closing down a shopping center. The closure follows reports of the center selling school goods in contravention of ministerial decisions, reported Al-Rai Daily.

In an official statement, the Ministry of Commerce clarified that this action is in line with directives from the Minister of Commerce and Industry and the Minister of State for Youth Affairs, Muhammad Al-Aiban. The Ministry has significantly ramped up its field visits to various establishments including shops, parallel markets, libraries, and cooperative societies across different governorates. These visits serve to monitor and prevent artificial price hikes and price manipulation.

These inspections primarily focus on ensuring that outlets specializing in stationery and school supplies strictly adhere to the Ministry’s regulatory decisions during the back-to-school season, thereby safeguarding the interests of consumers.
