The British Ambassador to Kuwait, Belinda Lewis, praised the Kuwait Towers as one of the prominent landmarks on the Arabian Gulf. She also added that the very sight of Kuwait Towers gives comfort, because it is located only one mile from the historic embassy headquarters in Dasman.

Referencing a press statement, released during Queen Elizabeth II’s visit to the Kuwait Towers back in February 1979, Lewis said that the Queen and her late husband Prince Philip made a guided tour with Sheikh Salem Sabah Al-Salem, the honorary head of the mission and advisor to the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Abdullah Al-Jaber, before the opening of the towers to the public, reports a local Arabic daily.

She noted the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh were the first official guests to visit the Towers and during the visit, they enjoyed performances and traditional music presented by Kuwaiti artists.

For her part, Sheikha Hala Al-Badr described the Kuwaiti-British relations as distinguished and strong between the two countries, the two peoples, and the two ruling families. She also considered this relationship as an example to be followed in bilateral relations between countries.

Sheikha Hala Al-Badr also pointed out that the visit, made by Queen Elizabeth II in 1979, was one of the important historical events in the course of Kuwaiti-British relations, as it gave a strong impetus to the continuation of Kuwaiti-British relations in its most beautiful form.

Researcher in Kuwaiti-British relations, Issa Yahya Dashti said: “This exhibition is a very important aspect in the history of Kuwaiti-British relations, as it presents part of the historical visit of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II to the State of Kuwait, which was in February 1979, which was characterized by several distinctive events, including the first time the Queen visited Kuwait, the first time a Concorde aircraft landed in Kuwait, and the first time a royal guest lived on a sea yacht during his stay in Kuwait.”
