The security authorities are continuing their investigations after receiving a report of suspected deliberate desecration of three tombstones of the late Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad, Sheikh Sa’ad Al-Abdullah and Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad inside the Sulaibikhat cemetery.

A local Arabic daily quoting reliable security sources indicated personnel from the Criminal Evidences Department have lifted fingerprints from the graves belonging to more than one person and the competent authorities are expected to summon them to hear their statements.

The sources added, the Sulaibikhat cemetery has no surveillance cameras to ensure oversight and follow-up, especially since hundreds of people enter it on a daily basis.

The sources revealed the security authorities have begun summoning and hearing the testimonies of the workers in the cemetery, especially since the clip circulating in the social of the desecrated graves was made by one of the workers.

The sources stressed urgent measures will be taken to ensure that such incidents do not recur, foremost of which is the installation of security monitoring and control cameras.
