The military authorities have tightened security in northern borders to protect the stability of the homeland, in the wake of recent offensive statements made by an Iraqi parliamentarian against Kuwait by, as well as threats issued by some armed Iraqi militias which disturbed the peaceful atmosphere at the Iraqi-Kuwaiti border.

Informed sources told a local Arabic daily, the army, the Interior Ministry, and the National Guard have raised the level of vigilance to monitor the situation on the northern borders, and follow up on the reports received the security and military authorities.

The sources said the Kuwaiti security intelligence is coordinating with neighboring countries to monitor developments and follow up on the situations that may pose a threat to the country’s security.

The sources indicated security patrols are active along the northern borders to monitor the situation, follow up on any developments, and relay the same to the senior security and military officials and secure the borders and move quickly to confront and prevent should anyone try to tamper with the country’s security.
