The Public Relations and Media Department of the General Traffic Department officer Major Abdullah Buhassan said the security and traffic campaigns carried out during the past week resulted in the issuance of 29,378 citations and impounding 39 vehicles and 28 motorcycles and referring 41 violators to the General Traffic Department for committing serious violations.

This is in addition to arresting 43 juveniles for driving without licenses and referring them to the Juvenile Prosecution. The authorities also seized 30 vehicles wanted by security and judicial authorities, and 14 people wanted by law were also arrested and referred to the judicial authorities.

Buhassan said that “the campaigns, which came under direct instructions from the Ministry of Interior’s Assistant Undersecretary for Traffic and Operations Affairs, Major General Jamal Al-Sayegh, and with field follow-up from the Assistant Director-General of Traffic for Licensing Affairs, Brigadier Yousef Al-Khadda, showed that the Traffic Operations Department ranked first in recording the number of violations, reaching 9,087 violations, followed by the Capital Traffic Department with 5,992 violations, and then the Hawalli Governorate Traffic Department with 4,127 traffic violations.

He explained that the General Administration of Emergency Police recorded, during the past week, 1,762 violations, carried out 283 security and traffic operations, and referred a vehicle to the detention garage, in addition to the arrest of 3 people wanted by law and arrested 23 people without identification, and 25 expatriates whose residence permit had expired; five people arrested for driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Bualhassan stated that the statistics of the Rescue Police Department showed the patrols were able to impound 8 wanted by the judiciary, in addition to the seizure of 4 cases of drug use and possession.
