The Saudi Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority was able to thwart two attempts to smuggle more than 2.4 million Captagon pills, which were found hidden in consignments that came to the Kingdom through the Jeddah Islamic Port and Mina Rabah Al-Khali Port.

The authority stated that it was able to thwart an attempt to smuggle 1,213,378 Captagon pills at the Rabah Al-Khali port, after finding them hidden inside a consignment of doors, reports a local Arabic daily.

The sources added that in the second attempt, the authority in Jeddah Islamic Port was able to thwart 1,215,353 pills, which were found hidden in a consignment of cement bags.

The sources explained that after the seizures were completed, coordination took place with the General Directorate for Narcotics Control to ensure the arrest of six people who received the shipment inside the Kingdom.

The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority stressed that it is continuing to tighten customs control over the Kingdom’s imports and exports, and stands guard against attempts by smugglers, in order to achieve the most prominent pillars of its strategy represented in enhancing the security and protection of society by limiting attempts to smuggle such pests and other contraband.
