A contract was signed to complete the construction work of the Sabah Al-Nasser Bridge, which was published by Al-Qabas daily. The project works began yesterday after an 11-year hiatus, due to the dispute between the previous contract contractor and the Ministry of Works.

The project engineer at the Public Authority for Roads and Land Transport Eng. Khaleda Al-Salem said that the authority started the construction works yesterday, after signing the new contract for implementation, noting that it started with conducting surveys, cleaning the place and assessing the site.

Al-Salem added to “Al-Qabas” that the authority also addressed all official authorities in the country to find out the services affiliated with it at the site, and coordinate with it to implement a plan to shift or replace those services so as not to conflict with the project in its various stages.

The contract is for the construction, completion and maintenance of intersections of the Sixth Ring Road, leading to the new residential areas in West Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, Kabd and Sabah Al-Nasser, noting that the period of execution and completion of works is estimated to extend to a year and a half.

The bridge construction, which was disrupted over the past years, was a source of inconvenience to the people of the area, as well as a cause of rainwater gathering at the site. All these problems would be addressed, as well as planning a new intersection to ensure the safety of those who go through these roads.
