The acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Information, Muhammad bin Naji has called on all media including the electronic media to investigate accuracy of what they publish and not to exaggerate, especially during the coming period, as the country embarks on reform, explaining that the ministry will discuss this issue within its legal and procedural aspects.

At the open meeting organized by the Ministry of Information at the Crowne Plaza Hotel which was also attended by a group of media professionals, it was disclosed that a media delegation visited the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to learn about their experience in organizing advertisements for celebrities on the social media pointing out that the issue is still under study and multiple meetings are expected to be held in this area over the next period, reports a local Arabic daily.

Bin Naji said, “We have come a long way in implementing the strategy for developing the media, after we listened to the opinions of media specialists, and we are striving to implement what was stated in the lofty pronunciation to modify the course and address the negatives.

He went on to say that the strategy includes a set of goals to be the best ambassadors for our country inside and outside Kuwait, as the media is a fourth authority in the country, contributing to the development of work and addressing errors, noting that the media has a key role to play in communicating news and getting rid of rumors, adding, “I address you from my heart and I know the ambition and goals in your hearts, so we are keen to meet before the start of the parliamentary elections, which is an important stage.”

Adviser to the Minister of Information, Dr. Fawaz Al-Ajmi said, “We have seen the experience of Saudi Arabia in the field of celebrity advertisements, and several meetings will be held in this regard, and if something is implemented, it will be in line with the constitution and Kuwaiti law.

“Today, we are partners in creating a free, professional and credible media, pointing out that there is investigative journalism, development journalism and other trends, all of which should be directed towards meaningful Kuwaiti media, stressing that everything raised in the meeting will be taken into consideration,” he said.

He stressed the responsibility of media professionals to monitor the three authorities and evaluate their performance, pointing out that the doors of Information Minister Abdul Rahman Al-Mutairi are open to all to hear suggestions.
