MEED magazine reported that the Ministry of Public Works is making preparations to award tenders for a significant road maintenance program by mid-August, with the project’s implementation period set to span three years.

This extensive project encompasses road maintenance, bridge maintenance, and stormwater improvement works across various regions of the country, including the capital as well as Hawalli, Farwaniya, Jahra, and Mubarak Al-Kabeer governorates, reports Al-Qabas daily.

The estimated cost of the project falls within a range of 220 million dinars to 240 million dinars (equivalent to $726 million-$792 million). The Ministry has opened the bidding process exclusively to international contractors, with a total of 10 bids required for the road maintenance work.

The eligible international companies for this bidding process include:
From Japan — Shimizu Corporation, Nippo, Kaihatsu Kogyo, Itochu, Toa Corporation

From South Korea — Daewoo Engineering & Construction, Hyundai Engineering & Construction, Korea Expressway Corporation

From China — Sinohydro Co., Ltd., China First Highway Engineering. China State Construction Engineering. China Jizoba Group Co., Ltd..

From France — Eiffage Construction, Colas, Eurovia

From Turkey — Dogus Construction and Trade, Eser Contracting and Industry, Limak Construction, Onur Contracting, Transportation, Construction, Trade, and Industry, Tekfen Construction and Installation, GAP Construction Investment and Trade

From the USA — S&S Paving & Construction

From India — Mega Engineering & Infrastructure, Gawar Construction, Raj, Apco Infratech Private, Infrastructure & Developers Lakshmi, Laresen & Toubro

From Hungary — Duna Group-Dunaaszfalt ZRT

These companies have expressed interest in participating in the bidding process to secure contracts for this ambitious road maintenance project. The Ministry aims to finalize the selection and award the tenders by mid-August, and the selected contractors will be tasked with executing the project over the next three years.
