The Parliamentary committees of the 2020 Council returned after the Constitutional Court ruling, resuming activities and meetings. The committee commenced the preparation of several files regarding important issues, which include the law of the High Electoral Commission and the minimum pension for retirees. The National Assembly office also held a meeting chaired by the Speaker of the Council, Marzouq Alghanim.

The Legislative and Legal Affairs Committee will resume its activities when it discusses the law of the High Electoral Commission on Wednesday, which more than one deputy considered a necessary prerogative before any new elections.

As for other committees, Representative Saadoun Hammad, head of the Interior and Defense committee told Al-Rai “The committee also meets on Wednesday to discuss several files on its agenda. Many issues will be arranged according to their importance, and reports will be prepared and submitted to the National Assembly.”

In turn, the Chairman of the Finance Committee, Representative Ahmed Al-Hamad, told Al-Rai, “The committee will review its priorities at its meeting on Thursday, and we will focus on laws in which there is an agreement with the government.” He noted that the Committee’s report regarding the minimum salaries for retirees has been submitted to the Council and would be urgently requested for approval.
